Whether you’re for or against veganuary – the five-year old initiative that aims to inspire people to ‘go vegan’ during January – our restaurant of the month competition is dedicated to Mildreds, a Soho institution that’s been creating internationally inspired vegetarian and vegan dishes since 1988.
Each month our restaurant competition gives you the chance to win a voucher to spend at one of the restaurants that we supply across the UK. We’re shamelessly jumping on the vegan bandwagon and offering you £100 to spend at one of Mildreds four London sites – Soho, Camden, King’s Cross and Dalston. All you need to do is make sure you’re following @belazu_co and @mildredsrestaurants on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter, like, comment and share the latest restaurant of the month post before midnight on Thursday 31st Jan – extra points go out to the most shares and enjoyable comments!
Mildreds was founded by visionionaries Diane Thomas and Jane Muir 30 years ago before the word vegan was part of our day-to-day vocabulary, let alone a neologism to kick-start the year. The duo set out to revitalise the dated and drab vegetarian fayre on offer in the late 80’s bringing in flavoursome and colourful vegan and vegetarian dishes.
The increasingly popular restaurant is well known for serving great food that also just so happens to be vegetarian. Mildreds’ executive chef, Daniel Acevedo along with Sarah Wasserman, Mildreds’ development chef and food writer, focus on creating dishes with brightly coloured, fresh ingredients and interesting flavours. These often span into the delicious vegan and gluten free options that could turn the heads of even the most carnivorous diners among us. Dan and Sarah have also recently launched Mildreds latest cookbook that showcases some of the restaurants most popular vegan dishes.
